The Vrindavan temple and its own history
The Katyayani Trust identifies its Peethsthan in Vrindavan and dates the consecration of the present main temple to the Magh full moon in 1923. This is a useful distinction: the date of a particular temple establishment is different from the antiquity claimed for a sacred place in devotional tradition.
The trust describes five forms of worship represented in the main temple. Use its temple and contact information when identifying the shrine; a broad reference to Mathura or to Bhuteshwar should not be treated as a precise address for the Vrindavan complex.
Names recorded in the tradition
- Goddess
- Mata Uma / Katyayani
- Bhairava
- Bhutesh
- Sati association in this list
- Hair / Tresses (Keshpaash)
These are devotional associations, not archaeological findings. Lists and local identifications can differ.
