The part of a treatment programme that takes place after the advertised event rarely makes the brochure cover. In Ayurvedic accounts, paschatkarma refers to aftercare. Some texts discuss a gradual return to ordinary meals under the term samsarjana krama. A historical sequence does not supply a personal recovery plan.
For someone considering a clinic visit, the practical test comes before booking. Who decides it is safe to go home? What written information goes with the patient? Is there a contact who knows what was administered? A list of preparations and dates will be more useful to another clinician than a receipt headed wellness package.
Ask how usual meals and prescribed medicines will be handled, especially if a condition requires a particular diet or regular medication. Do not assume that persistent vomiting, fainting or inability to keep fluids down is part of recovery. Seek prompt medical care rather than waiting for a retreat timetable to run its course.
